Economic Development
This does not happen without effort and a thoughtful strategy.
Public Safety & Support For First Responders
- Tools and Training - We need to ensure that our outstanding First Responders have the most current equipment and training. This ensures that our Police, Fire and Emergency services remain the best among their peers.
- Compensation and Benefits - We need to ensure that our First Responders are adequately compensated for the often dangerous and courageous work they do each day. We should benchmark their compensation and benefits to other cities of our size on a periodic basis to ensure we are able to retain and recruit the best and the brightest.
- City and Community Support- It is extremely important that our First Responders know that they have the support of both the City Council, City, Leadership and the Community. We need to continue to create a dialogue between all the stakeholders.
Fiscal Discipline and Responsibility
- Maintaining a balanced budget and managing debt levels sustainably.
- Prioritizing essential capital spending & allocating resources efficiently to critical public services like infrastructure.
- Using economic resources responsibly.
- Planning for the future: Considering long-term economic risks and opportunities and implementing policies that ensure sustainable fiscal health.
- Accountability to taxpayers, including transparency in budgeting and spending decisions to allow citizens to understand how their taxes are being used.
- Meeting debt obligations: Upholding our hard-fought AAA bond rating and ensuring stable access to future borrowing.
- Consider the impact of fiscal decisions on future generations of citizens.
- Balancing competing priorities, including striking a balance between immediate needs and long-term economic stability. Community & Livability
Community &
Livability
A strong community fosters a sense of belonging, safety, and well-being, which all contribute to a high quality of life. In addition, a livable community attracts and retains residents, creating a vibrant and thriving environment. Strong communities also usually have vibrant public spaces that serve as focal points for social interaction and recreation, including parks, libraries, community centers, and green spaces.
To accommodate our growing population and economy, Cedar Park is investing heavily in infrastructure, such as roads and water resources. I continue to support these initiatives, as well as other important ones which promote safety and enjoyment for our citizens as they cross our roads, utilize our trails and access our wonderful parks.
I enthusiastically stand behind our Parks Master Plan, increased trail connectivity, and the Bell Boulevard redevelopment effort, which will serve as a model for future redevelopment within our city. In addition, I voted in support of our recent Master Mobility Plan and was proud to help establish our citizen-led Parks & Trails Foundation.
I believe in a sound forward-looking vision which includes smart development within our commercial, residential and mixed use designated areas bringing uniqueness, character and utility to Cedar Park, while serving the needs of our growing population and commercial base.
